General meetings are held quarterly on the second Saturday of the month at libraries and other sites in the GSSI 28 county service area. Dates, times and places of these meetings will be announced in this space and in local media. The Genealogy Society of Southern Illinois' collection of genealogy and history books and microforms in the John A. Logan College Library may be used whenever the College Library is open. Prospective researchers are advised to consult the JALC Library website or call 618-985-2828, Ext. 8338 for current hours of operation. The Library is closed on weekends. Stinson Memorial Public Library 1:30 p.m. Historian and author Darrel Dexter will speak on the Genealogy and Biography of Robert Stinson for whom the Library was named. The easily accessible library is located at 409 S. Main St. in Anna. Designed by Walter Burley Griffin, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, the library was constructed in 1913–14. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
